Veil (7/24/01 1:47:06 pm) Trust

It was curious, of all the things that had happened Sunday, sitting in the chair of the Mother
Prosperpine had altered her personality the most. Memories of her own mother the Lady Sarabin holding
court had surfaced. Perhaps that is why the chair made her uncomfortable. Her mother had lavished
love upon Veil, and the vision of her sitting in front of all those ladies in her lovely dresses had stayed
with her over the years. Friends often teased Veil about her penchant for clothes, "I presume that
comes from you Mother" she said to herself. Another memory surfaced, hours spent deciding what
dress would be right for each function. Giggling Veil decided,
That, was one bit of information Strongbow and Tara did not need to know.

Breaking her pleasant reverie, she turned to things that truly needed her attention.

When she had arrived at Sanctuary, the church had been almost immaculate in appearance. The small
statue in the Maidens Woods had been turned into a miniature shrine. Transplanted flowers surrounded
it and a few ribbons floated gently in the sea breeze. Stitch's touch was everywhere, and Veil
appreciated how lonely it must have been for her here. Finding her was easy. The maid was sitting by
the sleeping BellaDonna sewing. Approaching the pair Veil had reached out to rearrange the blankets
covering the slumbering Mother.
Turning and gently moving a stray hair from Stitches face she had stated, "Stitch, you are welcome to
come stay with me now."
"Nay Lady," Stitch had replied, "My place is here with them"
"Stitch if loyalty was one of the eight virtues, I would declare you the Mistress of it."
"I have something for you voronwer," handing Stitch a rose from Maidenhome. "It is fitting. You should
have one of these" Veil said smiling. The pleasure in the maids voice and eyes as she said "Thank ye
Veil!" and ran to replant the rose was enough. Gazing anew upon the Mother Superior, Veil again
reached over to make some unnecessary adjustments to the blankets covering her.

Exiting quietly she had returned to the main floor to wait.

Later, she sat still and watched as BellaDonna asked Animal to escort her to bed. Looking to each of
the others in the room, it was apparent, all too apparent that they did not trust the Paladin
Seeing Celes start to follow the pair Veil had stood and simply said, "Trust Celes".

When he came down she studied him,
Animal, Paladin of the 4th rose. A mystery at the very least to most. Master of arcane arts none had
seen in years.
To her he was simply Animal, her brother in SIM, she trusted him and in a way loved him for whom he
was.

He had come to Ice and escorted her out. He had returned to Ice with her to find Seith. He had come
to Destard to save them all, then returned again when those not of his guild were still trapped. When
Guild Red had attacked them, again he came.
Honor, Valor, Courage and Compassion

Realizing that if the way of the Maiden was to survive, change was needed he had acted, even though
his actions caused him inner pain. Which she could see written on his face as he spoke.
Spirituality and Sacrifice

When questioned he answered, again bringing the look of pain.
Honesty.

And she knew if the Sisterhood told him what he did was wrong he would accept what was said.
Justice

She listened to what he said, and used her gifts to feel what he left unsaid. Aye, she did trust him

After he left, she listened to the opinions that needed to be spoken. Gently, she had broken into the
conversation, speaking from her heart.
"I for one, love Bella enough to let her go."
She had then tried to explain what she saw so plainly.

If you let go, and have faith. The Maiden will provide the answers.
