The only
thing odd about his outfit was the long red hair he had to tuck underneath
the bear mask so the savages didn’t become suspicious. Stitch sure
had done a good job brewing up this tribal paint from the berry he
found just a week or two prior. “What an interesting species indeed”
he said as he copied down some more notes in a blue book he had been
keeping with him.
There
was a slight sound coming from a clump of reeds about five hundred yards
away from him. Intently watching the clump he saw his old friend Sylvan,
a ranger by trade run without being noticed to a clump right next to
him. “Psssst Animal…. Animal”, he said trying not to be heard by the
savages.
“Ahoy
Syl, what brings you this far and to do so in such a dangerous way?”
“I bear
important as well as sad news.”, he said this time a bit more quiet
as one of the Shaman’s walked a bit closer to where they were standing.
“What is it friend?”, I said with a bit of hesitancy. No one would
come this far if it hadn’t been quite important.
“Roku
sends word to you.” Animal stopped his observance suddenly, “What
tiding does he bear?”, but he knew that answer already. “She is not
well milord, Roku fears the worst for her as has told the Sisterhood
they would know what to do. So far they have done nothing but propose
to bring her back to the sanctuary.”
Animal
grunted a bit, “Tis ok, they have her best interest at heart but know
not what is happening to her. I suppose my extremely long absence
doesn’t help the matters but I imagine that is why Roku has gone through
so much trouble to send you. I shall handle it within a week, once
my study is completed. She can survive that long, aye?”
Sylvan
could only look down and not answer. “Syl, what is it? What has happened?
What of the important news?”
“They
have done something else milord. It has to do with Sarina, they have
done something horrible.” Animal looked curious at his old friend,
not quite sure what to make of it. “What is it, what has happened?
She is still stuck in the void, aye? I suppose I have been lax in
that one also, there was quite a simple solution to the problem really.”
“They
were befriended milord, by someone posing as a wisely sage”, this
caused Animal to look close. “What was his name, what have they done?”
This time Sylvan’s face turned a ghostly white knowing the answer
would bring a ghostly white to his friend. “It was Leopold milord,
he befriended the sisters and brothers.”
The sound
of that name brought a sudden chill down Animal’s spine. He hadn’t
seen that low life in quite some time. The master of disguise and
trickery he was, perhaps he wouldn’t have even known if he has seen
him since. Not since he was a young child and in the grasps of his
former master had he laid eyes on him. Animal didn’t know if he should
continue his questioning or not. So instead Sylvan finally spoke,
“They released him from the void milord, where he has languished for
months.”
“THEY
DID WHAT !?!?”, Animal screamed almost at the top of his lungs. Several
of the savages looked over in his direction and looked puzzled by
the sudden outburst but continued on their business. “How on earth
did anyone find out he really hadn’t been truly killed?” This was
a secret Animal kept from that fateful day on top of the tower in
Relvinian’s maze. One of the Books of Sin given to him was a forgery
and the Book of Wrong was taken by one of the witness’ prior to its
destruction.
Kelrot
was not truly gone he knew because of this. When the final blow from
Avalon’s sword struck him down it did successfully kill him, but did
not permanently destroy him. “Oh, this is bad, this is definitely
bad considering the news Roku has brought to me. Time is of the essence
Sylvan, it is time to force forth the prophecy, before the sisterhood
does irreparable damage.”

Tired,,
she was so tired. Even thinking exhausted her. Guilt weighed her down
like a ships anchor.
Mistakes
had been made and she was the cause. Secrets hidden from the others,
so they would not worry.
Every
time she checked Bella's thread it was weaker, and her message to
Roku went unanswered.
Once
again she checked the message place for an answer from the protectorate
about Mother BellaDonna... nothing,,
Oh
Maiden, where have you taken them all to?" she whispered softly as once
again the fog settled over her mind.
